Meet ANYmal! Gresco Technology Solutions' UAS Team Welcomes ANYbotics
Recently, Gresco Technology Solutions' UAS team welcomed an exciting new addition to Gresco’s inspection toolkit: the ANYmal robot. GTS hosted the team from ANYbotics onsite at the UAS Tool Repair location to provide training.
ANYmal is classified as a quadruped robot because it has four legs, much like a dog or other four-legged animals. This design gives it exceptional stability and mobility, allowing it to navigate uneven terrains, climb stairs, and perform tasks in challenging environments where wheeled or tracked robots may struggle, and purpose-built for environments where drones may not be ideal, such as confined spaces, indoor facilities, substations, and rugged terrains.
With its advanced mobility and sensor technology, the ANYmal robot is perfect for:
Power and Utilities: ANYmal conducts inspections in power generation and distribution facilities, such as thermal and nuclear power plants, as well as substations. Its capabilities help prevent downtime by performing inspections during operations, thereby enhancing safety and reliability.
Chemical Manufacturing: In complex chemical plants, ANYmal automates routine inspections, including visual checks, thermal imaging, and acoustic analysis. This automation leads to early detection of anomalies, improved predictive maintenance, and increased plant uptime.
Oil and Gas Industry: ANYmal X, an ex-proof version of the robot, performs autonomous inspections in hazardous environments, such as offshore platforms and processing plants. It enhances safety by reducing human exposure to dangerous conditions and improves operational efficiency through consistent monitoring.
Transportation: ANYmal performs consistent inspections of rolling stock, rail depots, and infrastructure. Its ability to operate in various conditions ensures the safety and reliability of transportation systems.
Mining, Metals, and Minerals: In mining and metal production facilities, ANYmal reduces human exposure to hazardous environments by automating data collection and inspections. This leads to better situational awareness and operational efficiency.
Research and Development: ANYmal serves as a robust platform for robotics research in areas like motion control, navigation, and human-robot interaction. Its modular design and open-source compatibility make it suitable for academic and industrial research projects.
This addition broadens our capabilities, providing even more ways to meet the complex needs of customers who depend on reliable inspection tools to ensure efficiency and safety in their operations.
