Recapping Gresco Florida Fall Fest 2017
Gresco’s 13th Annual Fall Fest was held on October 27 in the warehouse in Wildwood, Florida. The expo included over 300 vendors and customers. It was an incredible opportunity for customers to learn about current products and companies in the electrical utility industry. It was also a time to celebrate fall with old acquaintances and new ones – especially with the chilly weather we received!
Customers and several vendors visited the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) drone demonstration by Gresco Technology Solutions. The 30-minute demonstration included two DJI drones: Mavic Pro and Matrice 210RTK. The drones completed tasks programmed by Rusty Ortkiese and Jamie Gose. These were the two most common questions from the audience:
- What is the most popular drone platform?
Answer: Up to this point, the DJI Inspire 1 has been the work horse of the utility industry due to the ability to swap out cameras and add the Zenmuse XT camera by FLIR. - What are electric utilities using drones for?
Answer: The primary uses have been for basic visual inspections and storm damage assessment. One of the most valuable uses will eventually be geospatial mapping.
The 2017 fall fest was a success that surpassed our expectations. Thank you to all customers, vendors and employees for making this year the best one yet. If you or your company are interested in registering for next year, please email us at [email protected]. We would love to have you there!
